Tamoxifen
does not dampen mood or sex life: study
NEW YORK, April 2 (Reuters
Health) - Previous studies have indicated that women who take the
anti-breast cancer drug tamoxifen may have to endure mood swings and
sexual problems. But according to results of a new study, long-term use
of the drug does not appear to affect a woman's mood or sexual activity.
In fact, nearly 87% of tamoxifen users reported
that they were as sexually active as usual, compared with about 75% of
women taking a placebo, or inactive drug, the findings show.
And more women taking a placebo reported low
energy levels--41% compared with 28% of tamoxifen users, the report
indicates.
