About HEALTHvision

A leading, browser-based e-health solutions provider, HEALTHvision is the healthcare organization's partner. We help local healthcare organizations use the Internet to reach physicians, patients, consumers and employees through customized, branded e-health solutions.

Your healthcare organization has selected HEALTHvision to assist them in providing the tools, resources and information you find on this site, as well as with the technical aspects of hosting web applications. The web-based applications you are using are hosted on HEALTHvision's e-healthSOURCE web infrastructure, a secure web hosting platform, designed specifically for healthcare applications. This infrastructure and the websites and applications hosted on it reside in a world-class data and hosting facility in Mountain Lakes, NJ. This allows your healthcare organization to concentrate on its primary goal -- providing your community with quality healthcare.

A privately held company based in Irving, TX, HEALTHvision was formed in July 1999 through the merger of the Internet-based products and resources of Eclipsys Corporation, a leader in healthcare information technology, and VHA, Inc. a cooperative hospital membership organization. As a result, HEALTHvision serves over 2000 healthcare organizations with its products and services.

HEALTHvision Security

No site is 100% impenetrable.  However, every reasonable measure has been taken to ensure the safety of our sites and our clients information.  There are three primary areas in which we employ strict security.

(1)   Firewall protection

(2)   Data protection

(3)   Application protection

Firewall Protection:

Most hackers dont just guess the passwords, but find other loopholes into the site to gain access.  The servers hosting the web sites are behind Firewall One which is an industry standard firewall created by Checkpoint.  This firewall ensures that only that which is necessary is used to connect to the websites and that they are used in an appropriate manner.  This is the primary mechanism, protecting HEALTHvision servers against hackers.

Data Protection:

Other components such as PGP and 128-bit SSL or secure socket layer are also used.  These technologies enable encryption of transmission between the end user and the server so that the data being transmitted cannot be intercepted and read by unauthorized recipients.  In practice, this is used in personalization when the consumer fills out demographic information and anytime personally identifiable information is being transmitting between HEALTHvision and a third party.

Application Protection:

From an application perspective, all sensitive areas within the site (e.g. administration capabilities) are password protected.  This ensures that only authorized users are able to upload and publish content.  A second level of security is also employed, requiring each published document to be approved by an authorized user before any authored content is displayed on the site.  Site administrators are encouraged to change these passwords on a regular basis.
