 CoxHealth School of Medical Technology

The CoxHealth School of Medical Technology is located at Cox Medical Center South, one of the region's largest and most specialized health care complexes. The Cox South facility is a 567-bed full-service hospital, including a large Outpatient Center, a Level II Trauma Center, and much more.

The Medical Technology Program is a 12-month, hospital based program that provides the fourth year for the bachelor of science in medical technology or clinical laboratory science. During the clinical year students are at the hospital eight hours a day, five days a week under the supervision of the program director.

Before admission to the medical technology training program, a student must first earn a BS degree in a biological science or have earned a minimum of 94 semester hours of college credit. The CoxHealth School of Medical Technology is affiliated with the following colleges:

  • Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, Mo.

  • Drury University, Springfield, Mo.

  • Evangel University, Springfield, Mo.

  • Missouri Southern State College, Joplin, Mo.

  • Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kan.

  • College of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, Mo.

  • Southeast Missouri State University, Bolivar, Mo.

  • Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield, Mo.

After satisfactory completion of the training program, the student is awarded a certificate of completion or a degree from the college attended and is eligible and expected to take the national certification examination.

The CoxHealth School of Medical Technology is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science, www.naacls.org.
