CoxHealth Diabetes Center
Working with your doctor, our team creates a personalized care plan that
includes a wide range of options.
We offer:
- education classes and counseling
- blood sugar monitoring
- insulin self-management skills
- oral medication self-management skills
- nutrition counseling and meal planning
- exercise counseling
- stress management
- diabetes counseling during pregnancy
- support groups
Follow-up sessions
Scheduled during the third and 12th months of your program, follow-up
sessions are designed to measure your progress toward the goals you have
set, and to give you ongoing support for the daily management of your
diabetes.
Diabetes is a serious
problem when left untreated. It:
- is the sixth leading cause of death by disease in this country
- causes 12,000 to 24,000 people to lose their sight each year
- accounts for 56,000 leg and foot amputations each year
- is the leading cause of kidney failure
- increases the chance of having heart disease or suffering a stroke
by two to four times.
Classes are offered during the day, evening and on Saturdays.

service as meeting the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management
Education."
