Core
Overview of diabetes management and treatment. Basic information for person with diabetes to incorporate diabetes survival skills into their daily lives.

Gestationals
For women who develop diabetes during pregnancy. Includes follow-up classes for post-pregnancy diabetes prevention.

  • Thursdays from 10:00am-12:00pm

Pumps
For those beginning insulin pump therapy. Includes safe pump operation, hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia and sick-day management.

4 Wednesdays throughout the month starting with the first Wednesday of the month.

  1. Assessments done 1:1 starting from 12:30-2:30. Patients are here about 1-1/2 to 2 hours)
  2. Class 1:00-3:00pm
  3. Saline Start 1:00-3:00pm
  4. Insulin Start 8:30-9:30am

Orals
For candidates for oral medications to learn about the names and types, along with correct dosage and schedule and the side effects, precautions and implications of the oral medication.

  • Tuesdays from 2:00-3:00pm

Insulin
For people with diabetes to understand the purpose, sources, types of insulin, site identification and more.

  • Tuesdays from 1:00-2:00pm

Monitoring
Blood glucose monitoring class for those incorporating self-glucose monitoring in their treatment regimen.

Basic Meal Planning
For those who are newly diagnosed with diabetes or need a simple solution for healthy meal planning. Also appropriate for those who have not had success with other meal-planning approaches.

Advanced Carbohydrate Counting
For those on intensive insulin therapy or insulin pumps. Learn to fine-tune diabetes management by adjusting short-acting insulin. Should have some background in carbohydrate counting.

  • (this is done as a 1:1 with the dietcian, we no longer have it in a group setting).

Weight Management
For people with diabetes who need assistance with basic self-management skills for weight loss and maintenance. Also useful as a refresher for those with prior knowledge of basic weight techniques.

  • April: 4th and 25th (1-2:00pm)
  • May: 9th and 23rd (1-2:00pm)
  • June: 6th and 20th (1-2:00pm)
  • July: 11th and 25th (1-2:00pm)

Exercise
Helps people with diabetes identify benefits of physical activity and learn the FITT principle. Understanding of exercise’s impact on blood glucose and learn the three phases of an exercise program, along with the precautions to take.

  • April: 4th and 25th (2-3:00pm)
  • May: 9th and 23rd (2-3:00pm)
  • June: 6th and 20th (2-3:00pm)

Continuous Glucose Monitoring System
This is a procedure where a sensor is placed just under the skin and is worn for three to four days. The monitor records and tracks blood sugars every five minutes while patient is wearing it. Results are downloaded and sent to to the doctor. The doctor is then able to look for patterns and adjust medication accordingly.

  • Offered Wednesdays from 11:00-12:00pm

Advanced Glucose Monitoring
For participants who are already monitoring and would like to learn how to analyze results. They can then make the necessary lifestyle changes. 

  • Feb: 15th and 23rd (11:00-12:00pm)
  • March: 15th, 23rd and 29th (11:00-12:00pm)
  • April: 12th, 19th and 27th (11:00-12:00pm)
  • May: 17th and 25th (11:00-12:00pm)
  • June: 1st, 14th, 22nd, 28th (11:00-12:00pm)
  • July: 6th, 19th and 27th (11:00-12:00pm)

Dining Out
This program assists you in identifying the problem of diabetes, making healthy food choices, choosing appropriate portions, how fast food affects your health and reviewing restaurant menus to give guidance when dining out.

  • March: 22nd (9-10:00am)
  • April: 26th (9-10:00am)
  • May: 24th (9-10:00am)
  • June: 21st (9-10:00am)
  • July: 26th (9-10:00am)

Carbohydrate Counting
Learn the benefits of carbohydrate counting, the relationship between carbohydrates and blood glucose levels and the process of carbohydrate counting.

  • March: 7th and 21st (3-4:00pm)
  • April: 4tha nd 25th (3-4:00pm)
  • May: 9th and 23rd (3-4:00pm)
  • June: 6th and 20th (3-4:00pm)

Hyperlipidemia
For the individual with diabetes who has elevated cholesterol levels or who wants to follow an eating style consistent with the American Heart Association's recommendations for those who want to decrease their risk of cardiovascular disease.

  • Feb: 22nd (10-1100am)
  • March: 22nd (10-11:00am)
  • April: 26th (10-11:00am)
  • May: 24th (10-11:00am)
  • June: 21st (10-11:00am)
  • July: 26th (10-11:00am)

Three-month and one-year follow-ups

  • 2nd Thursday of the month from 9:00am-10:00am
  • 4th Thursday of the month from 5:30pm-6:30pm
