Cox Work Injury Rehabilitation Center
Bridging the gap between injured workers and the workplace.
The Meyer Center
3545 S. National Ave.
Springfield, Missouri
8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday
The Cox Work Injury Rehabilitation Center (WIRC) progressively
increases and improves the ability of an injured worker to return to work.
A full spectrum of services is offered not only to evaluate the worker,
but the workplace and the work itself. WIRC offers effective, cost-efficient
industrial rehabilitation services to injured workers and area businesses
by providing solutions to the continually changing needs of industry.
Primary services
- Functional capacity evaluation
- Work conditioning
- Work hardening
- Functional restoration
- Consulting and prevention services (job site analysis, ergonomic
assessments, job applicant screening protocols, etc.)
Our physical therapists, psychologists, vocational counselors
and case managers focus on improving the biomechanical, neuromuscular,
psychosocial and cardiovascular functions of injured workers 18 and older.
Individuals with musculoskeletal injuries, head
injuries, post-surgical recovery or pain
syndromes that interfere with their ability to work are eligible
for referral.
Returning to Work
Planning for the individual’s return to work begins the
day the participant enters the WIRC program. A specialized interdisciplinary
team trained in worker’s compensation issues and treatment of work injuries
addresses the physical, psychological and social aspects of each individual
within a vocational rehabilitative context. Our ultimate goal is improved
function and employability.
The injured worker and his or her employer are the most
important members of the treatment team. A treatment plan is developed
for each injured worker and includes needs, desired outcome, expectations,
specific goals and target dates for completion. The intention is to provide
as smooth a transition as possible for the injured worker’s return to
work and optimal functional status.
Follow-up Care
Upon completion of the WIRC program, it may be determined
that the worker needs additional ongoing follow-up services for a limited
or extended period of time. Appropriate services are identified and community
resources and contacts are provided to assist the individual in continued
improvement in function.
Physician referral is required. Fax referrals to
417/269-5508.
